Trick & Treat DIY

...Tutorial...

so i cant take credit for this... it was on pinterest to be completely honest... but we put our own spin on it!

So the difference is that we did "TRICK TREAT" on the front and
" GIVE THANKS" on the back so its a two for one!

So all you need to do this project are:

  • Stencils from Michaels for letters
  • sponge brush and paint brush
  • color for letters and background
  • sanding block
  • two closet doors

So to start you remove hinges (if necessary), then rough it up a little with your power sander or sanding block. (I use a Ryobi.)
Then put on your base coat. I used Matte Black for Halloween and Golden Cricket for the Fall Side.
Once a couple Coats are applied AND DRY then tape on your stencils and blot with your Sponge Brush.

After they both dry you can choose to antique by sanding all over and around or by rubbing a Stain if you prefer those. I used both!

Then let set and your done! So simple and cute right! Do enjoy... We are!!

...keeper...

this was given to me by an old neighbor who said it had been in his family for years and years and he had no use for it. i was more than happy to take it off his hands :) and as always i battled forever on what color to paint it. but in this new house at heather drive i have sorta decided a color scheme maybe? But they always change anyway right? so here she is...

so excited how it turned out! adds just the right pop of color to our room! LOVE!

the $7 MINT buffet ...SOLD...

...a keeper....

yes $7 people. unreal i know. so on the way back from hiking the wind caves my mom and i saw a sign that said estate sell. best believe we stopped and found this gem. which now serves as out entertainment center.

it is the same color as the BLUE bench. If you want to get this look painting your own furniture, here is what you do...

sand the surfaces
buy a paint and primer in ONE
and a soft tip brush
lay it on thick the first time because you only are going to do 1 1/2 coats.
the antiquing comes from the lack of paint in some spots.around the knobs and curvy details just brush over and around them and don't fill in the details. natural aging.  so its a super fast way to do it.wait a few hours  then finish with  a coat of  ...
to seal and protect your furniture.

let it dry a few hours and your finished!

now if i could get this look for my tv i think i might just die with excitement... so cute..
